The Grand Rapids Symphony is investigating a collaborative project between the Grand Rapids arts community and Grand Rapids Public Schools to explore the possibility of opening a school of arts with an International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. Currently City High is the only GRPS school with IB curriculum.

The school would incorporate music, theater, visual and dance arts to allow students to develop essential creative- and critical-thinking skills. The IB program will allow them to compete at international levels and become actively engaged in their own learning. Combined with significant parental involvement within the school, this project is expected to improve student achievement and graduation rates for at-risk students in the Grand Rapids Public Schools.

The collaborative is eager to hear from the community and are using this survey to gauge the community’s desire and level of support for this type of school. Please take a few minutes to share your thoughts. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
