In the community...
Pauline McGregor-Lindo is the founder of the “Neighborhood Wellness Program” which is an adult neighborhood walking group. Pauline started this group in 2009 with 25 Madison Square residents. The group meets every Thursday at SouthEast Community Association (S.E.C.A.) strapped with pedometers and T-shirts for a friendly competition to see who can record the most steps out of the group. The ultimate goal of the group is to maintain healthy habits and promote unity in the community. Pauline has partnered with the Kent County Health Department, Calvin College Department of Nursing, and Spectrum Health. Pauline was awarded 2009 National-Runner up for Spectrum Community Health Worker of the year. Registration for the Neighborhood Wellness Program will start April 21, 2011 at S.E.C.A. This will also be the first day of walking for the group. For those who are interested in participating in the walking group contact Pauline or Gert Hobson at S.E.C.A. (616) 245-4398.
